Bio:

Sandra Kent has been a teacher for over twenty years. She is currently an Instructional Facilitator for Language Arts, ESL and Math in Carrollton.

Her photography has been shown on CNN Travel Page. Sandra uses her photos in the stories she writes for children.


Sandra has a passion to increase children's schema through non-fiction. She has written about an ecological reserve called "Underwater Park in La Jolla." The children learn about tide pools, marine animals and history of the park for ages 6-9.

She has also written "Hawaii the Big Island." Children will learn about an active volcano with photographs she took on a helicopter ride. They will discover Polynesian Culture through ancient writings.

Sandra wants to link the past to the present with the book titled, "Venice, Birthplace of Global Trade." Marco Polo grew up in a neighborhood close to the famous Rialto Bridge. Learn about the Silk Road which linked the east with the west.

"Ladybird Johnson Nature Center," will take you to the heart of the Texas Hill Country. Ladybird wanted to set aside land so the public could enjoy native plants and learn about natural landscaping. The colorful photos in the book capture the beauty of flowers, formal gardens, and natural habitats of different areas of Texas.

Sandra wrote the book "Succulents," so children could learn about the ways the plant adapts to the harshest environments.

When her son turned twenty-one and her husband turned sixty they had an exciting helicoptor ride over the "Grand Canyon." The book captures the breathtaking photos of this majestic place. Children will learn important science vocabulary about earth science with an arieal view.

"Farmers Market Produce," is a book children who are learning to read will want to read over and over. Photos capture the colorful produce brought from local farms, so they are always fresh.


Sandra's favorite book is titled, "Ducks In My Pool," about a family of ducks who chose her backyard to raise their ducklings. For over ten years her family has witnessed the duck's love story.

Sandra received a Masters in Education from Texas Christian University with a specialty in ESL Education.
