Susan Mae Hull, a writer & award winning artist, is a fifth generation native San Diegan. In 1975 she opened her own art gallery & retail calligraphy studio, Ladybug Art, in her hometown of San Diego, California.
Since retiring in February of 2010, Hull has concentrated on refining her art with an eye to illustrating books, both her own writings and those of other authors, emplying her unique skills.
She has focused her study in Chinese brush painting for the past two decades and has practiced the classical art of beautiful handwriting for more than forty years. She also teaches beginning level art in most disciplines.
Hull has won numerous awards for her watercolors and pastel work including the prestigious Yosemite Renaissance and the International Watercolor Exhibit.
She is a member of the San Deigo Watercolor Society, the SD Pastel Society, Southern California Plein Air Painters & International Plein Air Painters and SCBWI.
