Bio:

Rising like a Phoenix from the depths of North Philadelphia, Kevin Rakeen White (also known as the artist Eternal Thought)emerged from the grasp of poverty and hardships never forgetting from whence he came. To become one of the most prolific, gifted and brilliant young black men of his generation. With a passion for children, families, communities, Kevin R. White used the experiences and lessons learned from trials and tribulations to empower himself and help others and to do more with his life. As the oldest son out of fifteen children, Kevin R. White decided to travel the path last taken and devote himself to service as a teen. Serving as a Junior Servant Leader in the acclaimed CDF Freedom Schools® in Philadelphia and speaking at the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools® National Training. These events gave a young man an alternative to the hard knock, violence filled, and mean streets of Philadelphia. Writing poetry and junior service as a youth lead him to being a man writing spoken word, being a playwright, motivational speaking, acting, community building and entrepreneurship.
Kevin R. White is a proud graduate of Ben Franklin High School and Cheyney University where he acquired a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Theater. Throughout his matriculation as artist and advocate, Kevin R. White has performed spoken word, and poetry in venues all over the country, i.e.; Philly, Rochester, New York City, Newark, Oakland, Orlando, Kansas City, Saint Louis, Pittsburgh, Knoxville, Clinton, Washington D.C., New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Charlotte, and a plethora of small towns. He has done motivational speaking, panel discussions, trainings and workshops at an array of community centers, churches, elementary schools, middle schools and high schools around the country and these Universities: Cheyney University, Temple University, University of Tennessee-Knoxville, University of Pennsylvania, and a few small colleges. Kevin R. White has worked tirelessly as a member of the staff and/or consulting teams for the; Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools (11yrs), Philadelphia Freedom Schools (9yrs), Rochester Freedom Schools (2yrs), New Orleans Freedom Schools post-Katrina (1yr), Kansas City Freedom School Initiative (1yr) and is currently consulting and facilitating youth workshops in Camden, New Jersey for American Reading Company and the Camden Public Schools. He has written plays and productions performed in Philadelphia, Cheyney, Kansas City, Rochester, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Knoxville and continue to develop works for future productions. In 2008, Kevin R. White published his debut poetry book, “Where Pain Meets Pleasure” his second book “Seasons of Love” and third book “TroubledSon” with excellent reviews. He is Co-Owner and Chief Executive Officer of the company A Child of Karma, LLC, President and Co-Founder of A Child of Karma Foundation, a dedicated child advocate, assiduous community activist, accomplished poet, innovative playwright, published author, noted motivational speaker, sought after consultant and his future looks bright and primed for continued success.
