Bio:
I was born in Arizona but spent most of my childhood in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon. I received my undergraduate degree in graphic design at Oregon State. After graduating I moved to Ketchum, Idaho to explore mountains and the local community library. In the resort town I met many interesting wonderful people and fervently debated what was meant by "a real job" for eight years.
After assisting in a first grade classroom I earned my masters in education at Boise State and then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. I lived in Berkeley and Oakland while teaching third grade in Lafayette.
A pesky parent of one of my students wanted to set me up with her sister. The woman was moving to the Northwest and wasn't that interested in meeting me. Now I live with her and our two children. I enjoy cycling, skiing, good storytelling of all kinds, gardening, and paddle boarding. I write and teach in Seattle.
