Artist Statement
My name is Milo G. Beman IV, and I am a passionate, self-employed artist and Illustrator. I have had a passion for art ever since I was a very young boy. I started out drawing characters with pen and markers only. As an adult, I do drawinga with pen, colored-pencils, pastels, markers and charcoals. I do paintings with oil paints and pastels. I have studied and been influenced by the great Impressionist painters. Three of my favorite artists are Van Gogh, Cezanne, and Toulouse-Lautrec because I admired and am influenced most of their works. I create art when I realized that I have a wonderful gift from God and I enjoyed doing art very much. What art means to me is to create something very special, be creative, express emotions and feelings.
Most of my oil paintings are done in a very different way: either on canvas, panel or cardboard. I also took on the nickname "The Green Painter" because I save most cardboards to use for my oil paintings or pastel drawings. I also like doing my oil paintings on cardboard, because it takes about a day or two to dry the paints that are painted on the surface of the cardboard. Whenever I see a beautiful view of a landscape, I usually sketch it down on paper to remember what the colors are and the composition of the painting that I envision. The landscapes for paintings or drawings of are sceneries around my home, areas I visit, and my favorite vacation spots. I also enjoy doing paintings inspired by postcards and photographs from magazines or newspapers.
I also draw and paint portraits of my friends and relatives and still-lifes. I have been commissioned and sold multiple paintings during the past few years. I also give some of my paintings as gifts to people I care deeply about. My goals for the future are to become a Children's Book Illustrator and perfecting my artwork, always.
