Bio:

Who is Scott Spinks?
Scott is a writer and an illustrator who believes the best stories are those that inspire dreams and encourage greatness. He also believes that a family isn’t a family until it includes a dog, and baseball is the perfect game, even if you lose 22 to 6.

What brings Scott to the children’s book industry?
Scott has been a story teller his entire life. From crafting stories to his mother about a broken vase to writing scripts and creating characters for children’s cartoons, Scott has made his passion for story telling a life-long journey. A graduate of Concordia University, Magna Cum Laude, he holds degrees in Photography, Illustration, Animation and Marketing Innovation. He also continues to study the art of storytelling through the LOFT Literary Center, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Scott has recently completed his first picture book and is currently seeking a publisher.

What inspires Scott?
For nearly 20 years (not counting all of the years he spent simply reading their books and watching their cartoons), Scott has studied the work of who he considers to be the “three wise men” of children’s storytelling; Shel Silverstein, Chuck Jones and Dr. Seuss. It is the work of these three storytellers which has led Scott to his pursuits in the children’s entertainment industry.

What REALLY inspires Scott?
There is no greater inspiration than that which Scott draws from his family. Comedy, drama, passion and amazement are just a few of the things he and his family experience every day. Scott feels it is these real-life “truths” that hold the key to great storytelling. He believes that without truth, there is no story…even if you’re writing fiction.
