Bio:
Kelly Kirchhoefer received her BFA in Art Education, spent 6 years mentoring and speaking to university students, then travelled internationally as a photographer and graphic designer. Kelly is currently a freelance artist, teacher, card-designer, and creator of picture books, articles, and illustrations. That being said, Kelly would say that what she does doesn't make her who she is. It's the other way around. Kelly is constantly around children and aspires to become just like one.
Kelly loves color... and stories and people and cultures and words and shapes and small things. All those very moments when the whole of her heart wants to shout, "I was made for this!" This happens when she's writing. When she's creating. When she's in sunshine. In fact, the sunshine is where Kelly takes most of her photos. She snaps pieces of our growing world and makes something new from what's always been.
Here's how it works. Kelly looks, on purpose. Then she grabs these: Camera. Scissors. Glue. She mixes lots of pieces of lots of photos, sneezes far from her workspace, adds some gladness and pours it all onto the paper. When you discover a bit of that gladness trampoline off the page and escape into you, then Kelly says it's a good one.
