Anna McKann

Bio:

Several years ago if someone had told me that I would one day be writing children’s books, I would never have believed it!
For many years my career involved working in various government departments, until I became self employed, establishing a chain of children’s day nurseries.
In the autumn of 2002 my life took an amazing turn, as I discovered the plight of the street children in Latin America, upon which point I embarked on a rollercoaster adventure.
In September 2003, having booked a flight to Mexico City with no itinerary, plans or pre-arrangements - not through lack of trying, I soon discovered some very disturbing facts. Spending time on the streets, visiting the homeless, various institutions and organizations and working with them, I was to discover that thousands of children were living and working on the streets of Mexico City alone. Searching for food at the rubbish dumps and sniffing glue to take away the hunger pains was the harsh reality.

What I saw there, lived and breathed, touched my heart and gave me the inspiration for my first novel. I have continued to write ever since.
Having visited over 120 schools to date, with favourable feedback, I believe my books will be both entertaining and educational, introducing the young reader to some of the harsh realities of the world in which we live today.
Many of the books have yet to be published. “The vision awaits the appointed time,” as they say!
