Urve Tamberg

Bio:

As the daughter of immigrant parents, Urve grew up in Toronto hearing stories about the history and culture of Estonia. She was fascinated by tales of bravery and survival but she didn't know she wanted to be a writer of young adult historical fiction until a few years ago. Consequently, her experience and education have little to do with writing fiction. Her undergraduate degree was a B.Sc. (Physical Therapy) from the University of Toronto. After practising physiotherapy for a few years, she obtained a M.B.A. from York University. Her management career spanned both the public and private sectors of health care.

The little-known stories of the Estonian people and their struggle to survive during the Soviet and Nazi occupations during World War II inspired her first book, The Darkest Corner of the World.
