Bio:

Dr. Mike Lockett is an educator, international storyteller and children’s author. He was a teacher and school administrator for 33 years. He taught elementary school and served as a central office administrator and as a high school principal. Dr. Lockett won the 2000-2001 Those Who Excel Award for School Administrators in the State of Illinois. He has given more than 3000 programs across 27 states in the USA and 14 countries. He is in demand as a storyteller, workshop leader, keynote speaker and author. Audiences in the USA know him as The Normal Storyteller. His stories are far from normal, but he lives in Normal, Illinois. In Asia, he is called “Yeh Yeh Mike,” a term of endearment, which means “Grandpa Mike.”

Dr. Lockett is the author of Sky Food (2012), Why Spiders Have Big Bottoms (2012), The Magic Eyes of Little Crab (2010), Monkey and Rabbit Together (2010), The Cat and the Mouse (2009), Hickory Dickory Dock (2009), Mary Had a Little Lamb (2009), Teddy Bear (2009), The Basics of Storytelling (2008). Dr. Lockett will soon be releasing Humpty Dumpty and the Great Fall. (The newest book will be bilingual - in English and Chinese. Lockett is the recording artist for Christmas Around the World (2012), Tales of Delight -American Version) (2009), Tales of Delight -Taiwanese Version (2008),Tales and Fables: East Meets West (2008), Tales for the Young at Heart (2007), Tales from Around the World (2006), and Tales from the Hills (2000,2006). He is a contributing author for The Art of Storytelling by John Walsh (2003). At the time this bio is being written, Dr. Lockett has won 19 American awards for his audio storytelling products and children's books. Six of his children's books have received The Dove Seal of Approval for Families of All Ages. Three of his books have received literary awards from Creative Child Magazine. The Magic Eyes of Little Crab is the 2011 Benjamin Franklin Silver Award Winner in the category of Children's Books with Audio.

Dr. Lockett and his wife, Becky, write a monthly article on World Holidays for "Little da Vinci Magazine" published by Chang Tang Publishing in Taiwan. Each article is printed in English and Chinese. Readers can find an audio recording of each article by referring to a website found with the article in each magazine. The Locketts wrote 12 articles in 2011 and 12 articles for 2012.
