Bio:
Carter-Hansen - Artist, Filmmaker, Children’s Author and Illustrator.
Born in New Zealand. Lived for 3 years in Europe. Arrived in Australia in 1987.
Her first book THE ELEGANT ELEPHANT was a finalist in the Lothian unpublished Children's Book Awards.
She gained an MA(hons) at the University of Western Sydney in 1998
Jill Carter-Hansen is a Sydney based artist/photographer/illustrator/filmmaker who writes and illustrates children ‘s books. She also creates Artist Books. She has designed and illustrated in editorial and press and written, designed and directed, three animated films (These have been supported by Australian Film Commission, NSW Film Office and Canon Australia) and has been represented in numerous group and solo shows in New Zealand and Australia
Her work is held in public collections Support has also been received from QEII Arts Council NZ.and Air NZ.
While lecturing in several areas of the visual arts since 1988, Carter-Hansen has taught in tertiary art institutes and schools. She has delivered numerous presentations, and workshops to primary and secondary students in both New Zealand and Australia - including the Art Gallery of NSW and the NSW State Library.
She continues working in combined mediums and words.
