Bio:

Sonya caught the writing bug at an early age. A creative writing class in 8th grade made such an impact on her that she pursued a degree in writing and literature.

She was born in North Dakota and raised in Colorado. After college, she packed what she could into a small truck and moved to LA. While attempting her hand at screenwriting, she soon realized that this style of writing wasn’t fulfilling for her, so she turned to writing for a magazine.

It has always been a passion of hers to write children’s books, which is why she began using her nephew, who was about five at the time, as her guinea pig. She would write him books for his birthday. One in particular focused on geography, because he couldn’t understand why it was cold and snowing at his house and sunny and warm at hers. Another was on a family tradition. He is older now and they’re using Skype to workshop and write books together. He has become her greatest inspiration.
