Bio:
Natalya was born and raised in bucolic northern Vermont. A childhood spent outdoors, observing and immersing in nature, and frequenting local farms, instilled a deep love of animals, and a passion for the inherent beauty of the natural world. Family trips to the American Museum of Natural History in NYC further fostered her fascination with the diversity of the world's animal life, and opened her eyes to the powerful partnership of science and illustration.
With a BFA in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design, one of Natalya's first assignments after graduation was a series of 30 pen and ink coloring book images of animals for National Geographic's Kids website - she went on to do two other animal series for Nat Geo's "Print'N'Go Coloring Book" over the next 4 years. She has since worked as a graphic designer and textile illustrator for boutique children's clothing company, Zutano; a commercial storyboard and product illustrator for IDEO; and a freelance illustrator for companies including New Balance, McSweeney's, the Harvard Museum of Natural History, the Franklin Park Zoo, and the Vermont Department of Health.
Currently working on her first children's book, Natalya is excited to expand her range in the children's science and nature markets (print, web, exhibit) and is greatly interested in any opportunities for her work to educate and increase awareness, enthusiasm and wonder for the natural world through compelling art and good story-telling.
