Mike Curato blends intrigue & innocence, fantasy & nostalgia, creatures & sweets
to create scenes that are at once heart-aching and enchanting.

“There is a place in my mind where my adult self lives in my childhood world. I go to this place in my work, reliving, questioning, searching. Sometimes I feel like there’s a great mystery hidden there, a sweet melancholy, a heart-breaking beauty. I have tried to be honest and brave, and have found myself comforting a younger me, 'It will be ok.' I like to imagine my future self whispering the same to me.”

He was born and raised just outside of New York City and studied illustration at Syracuse University. He now lives in Seattle working as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer.
