Bio:
I worked for seven years in the children's publishing industry in the United States, helping to produce winners of the Coretta Scott King Award and American Library Association Notable Book selections, amongst others. I am now a freelance children's book specialist and I teach creative writing at the National Centre for Research in Children's Literature (NCRCL) at Roehampton University in London.
The main services I offer are:
* Manuscript critiquing
* Freelance editing
* Running writing workshops
* Mentoring aspiring authors
* Helping people to self publish
* Running a monthly writing group
Latest projects include editing a series of children's books for Nigerian publisher Cassava Republic Press and critiquing work by several people who are self publishing picture books (see my blog for interviews: http://www.lauraatkins.com/newblog/blog7.php). I have also been interviewed by Zetta Elliott on her blog, and been featured as part of the Writers Against Racism series from School Library Journal.
