Bio:

I was born in Texas but have been a citizen of Australia since 1992 and have lived here for most of the past 3 decades. I will never sound like an Australian but I feel like I belong. I have a Bachelors degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and am fluent in Spanish.

I currently reside in Maleny, a little town in the Blackall Ranges of Queensland, where I enjoy my big organic garden and the diverse birdlife. I have three wonderful adult offspring who loved being read picture books when they were little and they turned out great! Irrefutable evidence that picture books can save the world. Travel has added vivid colour to our family life and we have visited and lived in a number of different countries.

I have been making art since childhood but only recently have decided to put a lot more time and energy into my dream of creating picture books. At the suggestion of a very helpful expert in the children's book industry I joined SCBWI in 2011 and attended the 2012 Sydney Conference. I was amazed at the creative spirit, joy and generosity of this group. Now with all that great learning and as part of a vibrant creative community I feel more prepared to put my ideas and images into story form. Hard work laced with joy at every bend in the road ahead, I can see it now!
