Joanna is an illustrator, writer, and teacher. She received her BA in Spanish and photography from Northern Arizona University. She began illustrating and writing children's books in 2011 when her interests in painting, writing, and storytelling converged. Her work as a K-12 language teacher allows her to rediscover childhood every day. It also strengthens her own deep need to experience the world of color and exuberant possibility central to children's literature, where her art and words have begun to find a home. Joanna lives in Washington State. She is inspired by the grandeur of nature in the Pacific Northwest and works from her studio located on the banks of the White Salmon River.
