I started writing and directing plays and stories for my dolls when I was six. A big hit in the sixth grade for a script I wrote about a wreath falling off a nail on a door...hey, you get the laughs where you can. And that was that..the world was my storybook.
I received a BFA in Theater Arts and a BFA in English Literature...followed by an MA in Creative Writing...what else. I taught theater in Chicago. I now have a theater in Chicago...where I write plays, direct people...write stories for grown ups but especially for those crazy middle grade students who first laughed at my wreath story. Some things never change with time...some things do...like my hair color.
Written for middle grades, The Adventures Of Cleaver and Whizjam On The Isle of Oogle is my first novel. It's full of fantasy and wild, wonderful characters. I worked with an artist named Emily Thomsen who created my postcard illustration. The frog is Whizjam. She also did many other illustrations for the book. Check out Emily's work on scbwi website.
