Bio:
It was a dark and stormy night when I was born... or at least I figure it probably was since I'm a night owl who loves thunderstorms! I also love the four activities that have formed the core of who I am for three decades: writing, photography, teaching and travel. My day job is a health and medical journalist and editor, plus some SAT prep tutoring and newborn photography. My MA in photojournalism from UT-Austin cost way too much, but it was worth living in Austin for four more years before heading to the Midwest, which I'm learning to enjoy with my husband, two-year-old son, two long-haired chihuahuas and two cats.
In my life B.C. (before children), I did crazy stuff like climbing Kilimanjaro, diving with sharks, backpacking through 40+ countries, eating live Australian grubs and honey ants, telling off Vietnamese guards with AK-47s and surviving 8.0 earthquakes in Peru. Now I just try to remember those experiences so I can write about them! I'm a "prepublished" YA and MG writer who focuses on realistic fiction and dabbles in PB.
