Bio:
Q Lindsey Barrett is Assistant Fiction Editor at Hunger Mountain, a voting member of the National Book Critics Circle, and she teaches writing at conferences. Her story "Toronado" received Honorable Mention in the Bacopa Fiction Award and "The Shape of Desire" was a Wordstock Ten finalist. Her [adult] novel-in-progress, A Cooler Than Hot Place, was longlisted in the MsLexia Novel Competition, Semi-Finalist in the William Faulkner-Wisdom Competition, and an excerpt was selected for publication in New Voices. Her work appears in Drunken Boat, Night Train, Los Angeles Review, Cosmopolitan magazine and elsewhere.
She has a BA in Psychology with an emphasis on Child Development from San Diego State University, and an MFA in Fiction from Vermont College of Fine Arts. She is working on her first novel for young people, Savage|Sister, a tale of the forbidden friendship between a pioneer girl and an Indian girl on the Olympic Peninsula in 1890.
