Bio:

Having home schooled my own kids through high school, I now work part time as a writing coach in a home school resource center. I'm passionate about the writing process -- whether expository or creative -- and kids in my classes respond to my enthusiasm. I have led students through NaNoWriMo for three years and wrote my own middle-grade novel during NaNo 2011. I have been an instructor at North Seattle and Edmonds Community Colleges, and spent years teaching parents and infants to communicate using sign language. My first four books were published by Gallaudet University Press (Baby's First Signs, More Baby's First Signs, A Book of Colors, and Out For A Walk). I self published "My Own Magic," a middle-grade novel about a writing teacher so odd her students think she must be a witch. It's a book about NaNoWriMo and how the writing process changes the hearts and minds of even the most reluctant writers.
