Bio:

Author, artist and educator, Mishalene Bloom, affectionately known as “Hip Hop Mimi,” is the modern day Mr. Rogers, fusing hip-hop, inspiring lyrics and interactive entertainment to create an atmosphere of curiosity and excitement for kids of all ages. As a native of Fresno, California, she has worked with children in diverse environments and brings over 15 years of educational training and experience to the stage with her. Mimi has an uncanny ability to reach kids and bring the best out of them and with a splash of pop and a pinch of hip-hop swag, she artistically packages her core message of “get an education, follow your dreams and be determined,” with confidence, passion and eye-catching style. Mimi masterfully blends rhythmic and catchy lyrics that grab the attention of parents, students and educators alike, dubbing her energy and charismatic performances as infectious and stirring. Mimi Bloom is sure to leave audiences with a love for learning and yearning for more.

Mimi began her career in education in1995, at Ivy Head Start, as a special needs aide and assistant. In 1998, she picked up everything and moved to Southern California to pursue her dream of music and edutainment. She continued her career in education as a counselor with The City of Long Beach Parks and Recreations Department. As her capacity grew she worked as a fitness instructor for the East Valley YMCA and implemented a comprehensive health & fitness curriculum. She also served as the Assistant Director for NACEY Children World Learning Center in North Hills, California and was a Teacher’s Aide for Pre-K students at Discover School in Reseda, California. Most recently she was the lead teacher at New Village Leadership Academy, founded by Will & Jada Smith. Her latest projects include directing and producing the TV pilot, “Oaktowne,” and authoring a children’s picture book, “The Tweets!” (A compelling story that explores the power of the imagination.)
Mimi tours the country speaking to children on various topics. In 1994, she received the prestigious NAACP Award for her outstanding dedication and contribution to her community. Mimi hobbies include traveling, cooking, dancing, reading and writing music to which she has created a children’s album to help encourage children to stay active and healthy. She attended Fresno State and majored in Liberal Arts. She completed her early childhood development courses at Los Angeles City College. Mimi completed her first Marathon in Honolulu Hawaii for the Aids Foundation in 2003.
