Bio:

I first went to the Himalayas in 1981, fell in love with the people and place and have been privileged to work there ever since. When one of our project artists died suddenly, I took over his job, 'learning while doing'. In the past 20+ years our not-for-profit has produced over 150 educational books, games, puzzles and manuals used across Northern India and through free access on the internet, in such diverse places as Uganda, Peru and inner-city USA schools.

Through our book team we have created several memorable characters, who help us teach health, agriculture, literacy and sharing and caring. There's Padma, a clever little girl always filled with questions; Black Hen, our very own Trickster; and Monster, a big purple creature who helps children understand sharing and caring. One of my passions is keeping the world's language diversity alive in this age of English dominance.

A graduate of the University of British Columbia's Master's programme in Environmental Management, I am blessed to be able to use my art and writing to support cultural conservation in the Western Himalayas.
