Skylaar has 10 years of experience in art, writing, and editing. She has published poetry in journals around the country and is a 2012 Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship finalist.

Having self-published and hand-bound numerous artist books, Skylaar is now writing and illustrating children's books, looking for publication in the mass market.

Skylaar loves the sea, whales, ukulele, science, exploration, and the power of language.
