Bio:
Art has always been an essential part of Mary’s life. At the age of two and a half she began drawing, in some detail, with crayons on anything she could-including her bedroom wall. At four she received her first set of “real” watercolors from a relative in Europe- that inspired the animals she painted on the back of her closet door. Mary was not a mischievous child by any means; she just wanted to “make pretty things”. Mary has studied various forms of art throughout her life; pottery, sculpture, textile design, fiber arts and jewelry making. Painting and drawing however are her favorite forms of expression; she works with watercolors, gouache, acrylics, oils and pastels.
For nearly twenty years Mary owned a retail business which featured many of her original and commissioned pieces. After it was destroyed by fire she began illustrating, designing and, teaching painting classes.
Mary paints everyday if possible whether that is at her winter home in scenic central Pennsylvania or her summer ‘camp’ in the Adirondack Mts. of New York. She shares her life with her husband and daughter, their cats and one dog- all of whom have been subjects of, or instrumental in, her passion…
