Heather Kolich is a freelance writer, photographer and children’s author. Her feature articles and photographs have appeared in newspapers, magazines, internet and business publications since 1999. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Georgia and early in her career worked with primates in the fields of language research and behavioral biology. She later became a sign language interpreter for deaf and hard-of-hearing students and an instructional assistant for special needs children. Heather is an active member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, serving as the manuscript coordinator for the SCBWI/Southern Breeze Annual Writing Contest, coordinator for the 2010 Springmingle conference, and an information contact person for her region. When she is not writing, she enjoys gardening, building stuff, reading, researching for her next book, and being with her family in the history-rich foothills of North Georgia.
