Bio:
Alison Davis Lyne has worked as a freelance illustrator since 1996. She joined SCBWI in 2002, after her first picture book illustration project, Evangeline for Children, was published. That project was followed in subsequent years by seven more picture book illustration projects and a couple of chapter book projects (and counting). They were all done for Pelican Publishing Company.
Alison has also done illustrative work for the Kentucky History Museum on children's displays of Kentucky history. Alison is very proud to have been commissioned to paint fourteen portraits of famous Kentucky women, including Rosemary Clooney and Loretta Lynn among others. The paintings illustrate some of each woman's accomplishments in addition to their likenesses. The portraits are on permanent display in the Kentucky state capitol rotunda.
Alison continues to work and learn from SCBWI members about this crazy business of illustrating children's books. She edits the ART TIPS column for the SCBWI Bulletin.
She lives and works with her husband, Frank Lyne, on their small farm in south central Kentucky. Frank Lyne is a sculptor and is also a SCBWI member. You can see more about them and their work at http://www.lyneart.com
