Tomie dePaola is an internationally recognized author and artist of books for children. Among the many awards and recognitions he has received are: the Caldecott Honor Award, the Newbery Honor Award, the Smithson Medal from the Smithsonian Institution, the Regina Medal from the Catholic Library Association, and Living Treasure from New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen. He has illustrated over 200 books and written the stories for over 100 books including Strega Nona, 26 Fairmount Avenue, Nana Upstairs & Nana Downstairs, and Meet The Barkers.
