Bio:
Born in Sydney, Australia, I lived in New York in the early 1970s, but have lived in Melbourne, Australia with my husband and three sons for the last twenty something years.
So far I have had twenty four books published for young readers, including picture books and novels for pre-teens.
My 'chapter book', IF THE SHOE FITS, is now published by Charlesbridge Publishing, Boston and I am very pleased that it received good reviews in the US, including one from Kirkus. The publication was facilitated by SCBWI Australia. Thanks, Susan and Christopher!
Two of my junior novels for young teens WHO CARES? and WHO DARES? with surfing themes are now published in America by Kane Miller and are enjoying some success. Again, publication of these two books is a direct result of the SCBWI Australia conference. Cheers!
My picture book, LOFTY'S MISSION, was published by Lothian Children's Books (Hachette) in Australia, with illustrations by David Miller. This book was short-listed for the New South Wales Premier's History Award, which made me so proud. It is now in a paperback edition from the ANZAC Day Commemoration Committee in Queensland.
PEEKING DUCKS is published by Windy Hollow Books in Australia, with glorious illustrations by Sally Rippin. It is set in China and tells the adventures of three little ducks who go in search of the Li River only to discover there are lots of lessons they need to learn. Copies were given to the Nanjing and Shanghi Libries in 2010.
WARRIORS a picture book/information book for primary students about the Terracotta Warriors is published in hardback by Windy Hollow Books, October 2012. The illustrations are mainly my photos from China and the book has wonderful graphic design by Ashley Colcott. Thanks Ash.
