Bio:
Elizabeth was raised in the town of Harvard, a cozy New England village in central Massachusetts. In 1983, she earned a BA from Hobart & William Smith Colleges (Geneva, NY) and in 1995 completed her Masters in Liberal Studies at Dartmouth College (Hanover, NH). In addition to working as a freelance writer for the past 20 years, Elizabeth has taught English Literature, as well as held positions as a children’s librarian and co-executive director of a local arts foundation.
Her debut middle grade novel, FROM ALICE TO ZEN & EVERYONE IN BETWEEN (Lerner Books), was published in 2008 and has been included in the Bank Street College of Education’s BEST CHILDREN’S BOOKS of 2009 (100th Anniversary Edition). Her new tween book, I, EMMA FREKE (Lerner Books), was released September, 2010 to critical acclaim and won a gold Moonbeam award for pre-teen fiction. In January 2011, I, EMMA FREKE was released by Recorded Books (audio), and international rights have been purchased by French and Turkish publishing companies.
She is also the author of two non-fiction books: MONSTER VEHICLES (Capstone Press 1991) and GLEE! AN EASY GUIDE TO GLUTEN-FREE INDEPENDENCE (Clan Thompson LLC 2009).
Elizabeth lives with her husband, Erik, their children, Madeleine and Nathaniel, and a chocolate labradoodle named Obadiah.
