Bio:
Joan Elste is the author of "True Blue",an early chapter book that has been in print for fifteen years and is now in every library in the United States.
Her book, TRUE BLUE easily captured the hearts of children and won her a Children's Choice Award from the International Reading Association.
Joan started drawing and writing from the time she could hold a pencil. At the age of seven, she was telling stories to the children in the neighborhood. Also at this age, she started collecting animals from raccoons to snakes.
She attended the Philadelphia College of Art, now known as The University of the Arts, majoring in illustration where she graduated with a BA degree.
Her illustrations have appeared in ASPCA'S ANIMAL WATCH, REPTILES MAGAZINE, American Craft's DOLL LIFE and SPORT AEROBATICS, a magazine focusing on aviation.
