Bio:

Amy is a freelance writer and an instructor for a correspondence course on writing for children through the Institute of Children’s Literature. She is the author of 42 books, many for young children ages 3 to 7. Amy enjoys writing books on assignment for educational publishers.

Although Amy was born on Long Island, New York, rural Missouri has been her home for over 20 years. After staying home with her daughters for ten years, Amy earned a degree in Library Science from Northwest Missouri State University, Maryville. She has worked as a children’s librarian, preschool teacher, and features writer for the local newspaper.

Amy enjoys cooking, baking, and writing cookbooks. Her third cookbook, Cooking Around the Country with Kids: USA Regional Recipes and Fun Activities, was published in 2009. Her interest in cooking began at an early age. Amy was encouraged to cook as a teenager and often made the family meals. After high school, her love of cooking and baking led her to attend the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.

Amy’s husband, Steve, is a seventh grade science teacher. They have two grown daughters. Amy spends her days mostly at home, writing and teaching, with her adorable lab mix, Gina, for company.
