Mary Quattlebaum

Bio:

Mary Quattlebaum is the author of 19 award-winning children's books and numerous children's magazine stories and poems in Cricket, Boys'Life, Ladybug, Spider, Highlights High Five, and Babybug. She has published picture books, poetry, chapter books and novels, including "Jackson Jones and the Puddle of Thorns" (Random House), "Sparks Fly High" (Farrar, Strauss & Giroux), and "Family Reuion" (Eerdmans), "Pirate vs. Pirate" (Disney Hyperion), and the Jo MacDonald nature series (Dawn) Awards include Random House's Marguerite de Angeli Prize for a first middle-grade novel, Parenting Magazine Reading Magic Award, Bank Street Best Book, SIBA best picture book, NAPPA Gold Award, and inclusion on numerous state children's choice lists. Mary also reviews children's books regularly for the Washington Post, Washington Parent, and online for the National Wildlife Federation and occasionally writes nonfiction for Gale/Cengage. Mary teaches in Vermont College's MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults and frequently speaks at schools and conferences. Mary also enjoys gardening, hiking, playing the harmonica, and spending time with friends, family and pets.
