Bio:

I was born in Liverpool, and brought up in the North West of England. I studied Fine Art and Graphics at Liverpool Art College, Leeds University and Central St.Martins. I worked extensively for magazines, ad agencies, design companies and animation firms, producing all kinds of work from book jackets and film posters to advertising campaigns and packaging. I also wrote and drew a long-running cartoon strip for the Royal Mail.

Then I began writing and illustrating my own books, and the second of these – ‘Little Robots’ – was made into an animated TV series. It’s shown on CBeebies in Britain, there have been 65 episodes made so far, and the show has been sold all round the world. As well as doing all of the character design and much of the pre-production design, I also wrote several of the episodes.

I’ve produced books for a wide range of publishers including Bloomsbury, Oxford University Press, Ragged Bears, Scholastic, Harper Collins, MacMillans, Piccadilly Press and Orchard Books.
