Monica Minto is an Arizona free-lance artist who creates detailed pen and ink drawings. She specializes in enhancing children’s books with her unique style of illustrations.
Monica uses a vintage style of pen-and-ink drawing reflecting back to the wood-engraved images commonly used in early book illustration. She finds her inspiration in the similar pen and ink illustration practiced by Albrecht Dürer, Howard Pyle, Franklin Booth, Arthur Guptill, Robert Lawson and Claudia Nice.
As a little girl her parents gave Monica a small drawing set consisting of a tiny pot of India ink and a dip pen. With these tools she began to draw, practicing for many years to learn the use of the crow quill pen and finally graduating to a Koh-I-Noor Rapidograph technical pen.
