Steve Bjorkman

Bio:

I have been drawing since I can recall. Teachers would regularly take away my drawings because I was supposed to be paying attention in class. But the fruits of a misspent youth doodling have paid off in the long run.
Over the years, though I was originally going to be an English teacher, I would up drawing pictures for a living. Advertising illustration, Magazine illustration, thousands of greeting cards, and children's books. Somewhere close to ninety picture books by now.
I had the opportunity to start my picture book career with Ellen Levine's "I Hate English" and had the chance to do one of the versions of "Flat Stanley" and more recently Jeff Foxworthy's "Dirt on My Shirt" stayed on the New York Times Best Seller list for about 18 weeks.
I still love to speak while I draw for various groups.
We live in Irvine, California. Our three kids are grown and a few odd pets remain. Our dog has one tooth that sticks out and makes him look like his name, Bandit. Our cat is getting old and acting goofier by the moment. The desert tortoise we inherited and had since he was hatched has now finally escaped and is off on his own adventures now.
