Bio:

Joy Fisher Hein is an artist, illustrator and organic gardener.

She is the illustrator of Kathi Appelt's award-winning Miss Lady Bird's Wildflowers: How a First Lady Changed America.
Joy also illustrated Mary Dodson Wade's award-winning Sam Houston: Standing Firm and David Crockett: Creating a Legend, Bright Sky Press, 2009.
She has been illustrating for children since 1991.

Joy is the selected artist for the 2009 Texas Reading Club. She was also selected by the City of San Antonio to create thirteen large mural panels for Walker Ranch Historic Landmark Park.

Joy and her husband, artist, Professor Emeritus Frank Hein, live in the Texas Hill Country, where she is a Texas Master Naturalist and is certified to create Schoolyard Habitats for the National Wildlife Federation.
