Bio:
Aline Alexander Newman is a certified teacher, freelance writer, and author. National Geographic published her first book, APE ESCAPES! and more true stories of animals behaving badly, in 2012. Two more titles, also from National Geographic, are forthcoming. Since 1998, she has written more than 50 articles for NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC KIDS, formerly NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC WORLD, twenty-seven of which were cover stories. Her work also appears in over 20 other consumer magazines, including HIGHLIGHTS FOR CHILDREN, CRICKET, BOY'S LIFE, AMERICAN GIRL, and GUIDEPOSTS. Aline is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) and often moderates panels at their annual conference. Her awards include the 2002 SCBWI Magazine Merit Award for Non-Fiction and the 1996 HIGHLIGHTS FOR CHILDREN Pewter Plate Award. Aline loves speaking at schools and has developed several interactive programs that get kids excited about writing.
