Carol Schwartz

Bio:

Carol grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and attended Kansas City Art Institute and the Rhode Island School of Design. She has illustrated over 50 books for children.

The book, Sea Squares, by Joy Hulme was selected as an Outstanding Science Trade Book by the National Science Teachers Association and the Children's Book Council and was a Children's Choice Award. Thinking About Ants by Barbara Brenner was also an Outstanding Science Trade Book. The Maiden of Northland by Aaron Shepard was an Aesop Accolade List book. Carol's work is included in the Society of Illustrators permanent collection of outstanding female illustrators of the past one hundred years.

Carol enjoys speaking to students about her work. She has spoken at more than 200 elementary schools around the United States and higher institutions such as Frostburg State University, the Kansas City Art Institute, Corcoran School of Art, Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and the Cincinnati Art Museum. She teaches illustration at Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design and is pursuing her MFA in Illustration at the University of Hartford, Class of 2014.

She now lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
