Bio:
Marianne D. Wallace is a writer and illustrator.
But her first plan was to become a marine biologist and study tidepool animals. After working as a veterinarian's assistant and getting a degree in biology, she got a job as a tour guide and illustrator at a botanic garden instead. That job was followed by elementary school science teacher, US Forest service writer and education specialist in mosquito control.
Finally everything combined into books: first writing and illustrating non-fiction books about nature and now writing fiction picture books and young adult novels.
Marianne lives in the mountain foothills of Southern California. The family yard is bordered by native plants and is shared with deer, raccoons, bears, coyotes and other wildlife that roam through the area, sleep on the back lawn and use the landscaping as a salad bar.
