Bio:

E. Shan Correa is a professional freelance writer whose works have garnered many awards and have been published in regional and national books, magazines and literary journals.

Shan was a banker in Seattle, then taught English and journalism (at Honolulu Community College and Hawaii Pacific University) for fourteen years before beginning her full-time writing career. She writes for both children and adults—fiction, non-fiction and poetry. Although fiction and poetry are her first loves, commercial non-fiction projects provide the majority of her income.

She is currently focusing on writing for children. Her work has been published in Cricket, Jack and Jill, and Ranger Rick magazines, among others. Her middle-grade novel, Gaff, was published in Peachtree Publishers' (Atlanta, GA) spring, 2010 line.

Active in the National League of American Pen Women and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, Shan has presented numerous conference programs and writing workshops for those and other organizations.

Shan lives and writes in Hawaii, which provides her with inspiration as well as with markets for her work. She and her husband Leslie (a Hawaii Pacific University administrator) have two sons. Evan and Brandon were born and raised in the Islands, as was their father; Shan moved to Hawaii from Washington State in 1966 to complete her graduate work at the University of Hawaii.
