Bio:

I was born and raised in New England and studied art at The University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA, earning a B.F.A. with a focus on Printmaking. Here I met Jane Yolen and fell in love with the picture book format, and started to develop my skills in illustration.

After graduation I entered the public schools teaching art at all levels as well as freelancing in illustration. Eventually I left public school teaching to enter the corporate world and worked there for many years until a layoff 2000. From there I started to teach design at the college level, and eventually became a full time college professor.

I am currently both teaching graphic design and freelancing in design and illustration, with a focus on children's illustration.
