Bio:
Lori McElrath-Eslick
Children’s book illustrator
The State Park only a couple of miles down the road, so my family and I go often, to walk, to swim, weather permitting, and to hike the dunes. My husband is a high school Modern World Studies teacher. Our daughter, Camille recently graduated from U of M a degree in Russian language. My son, Chase who is in 6th grade, is alot of fun, he and my daughter have provided lots of inspiration, for my art and writing. Camille is the main character in DOES GOD KNOW HOW TO TIE SHOES?-Eerdmans Books-1993. Chase is the main character along with his friend Tommy (who is Jesus) in: IF JESUS CAME TO MY HOUSE- Harpercollins-2008. His feet and his sister’s are also in the book: BAREFOOT-Boyds Mills Press,2008 and in Bank Street College's list. My most recent book is: THE GOOD FIRE HELMET, by Tim Hoppey, Alma Little Publishing 2010.
My family is very supportive of my work, though sometimes it is too weird to have a mom/wife who is an artist, as I like things that are funny-odd, unusual for instance:I take pictures of snow shelters (current interest; for the moment)... so we have to stop along the road if ever I see one.
I am constantly thinking of ideas—for them as well as myself.
