Story has been my passion, from my childhood spent with books; through college when I majored in English so I could read stories and call it studying; through my work as a reporter and editor; and as a lawyer, when the I was fascinated with facts behind the law – in other words, with the stories.
I've been writing for young people since I re-discovered the joy of children’s books while reading to my daughters. I attended the MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults at Vermont College, and now write fiction and non-fiction for young people.
My published books include middle-grade biographies and topical anthologies for young adults; my science fiction, fantasy, and realistic short stories have appeared in anthologies and magazines. I also teach in elementary schools, do school author visits, speak at conferences, and provide private manuscript consultations.
