Bio:
Jan Blazanin, a former middle school reading and language teacher, writes contemporary fiction for young adults and middle graders. She received undergraduate degrees from Grand View College and Iowa State University, and her master's degree from Drake University in. Jan studied writing at the Institute of Children's Literature and the Iowa Summer Writing Festival in addition to reading dozens of books about writing. Jan's current teaching and speaking engagements include a summer novel writing course for fifth and sixth graders, creative writing classes for students 55 and older, and numerous writing workshops for grades 4-12 throughout the school year. An Iowa native, Jan currently lives on an acreage in Waukee, Iowa, with her life partner Mike, her dogs and cat, and an excitable flock of guinea fowl.
