Catherine Stier

Bio:

Catherine Stier, a former Midwesterner, now lives deep in the heart of Southwest Texas. Her children’s books have received honors and awards from the Society of School Librarians International, the International Reading Association and the Bank Street College of Education.
The Chicago Public Library chose Stier’s first title, If I Were President, to be the featured book on the WGN-Chicago Bozo television show for Presidents’ Day. The Chicago Public Schools selected the same book to kick-off a district wide literacy program, with 3500 copies of If I Were President distributed to 127 schools.
A second title, If I Ran for President, was selected by the National Braille Press to be offered in Braille format for their children’s book club.
The gift shops/book shops of the White House Historical Association, the Mount Rushmore National Memorial and the Smithsonian National Museum of American History have featured Stier’s books. In 2008, Catherine Stier was invited to conduct a book signing at Mount Rushmore during their Independence Day celebration, attended by 30,000 visitors.
Stier has served as a frequent contributor to Woman’s Day magazine, a newspaper columnist/feature writer, a writing instructor in the adult education program at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois and an SCBWI Chicago Suburbs network rep. Her articles, stories and crafts have also appeared in The Chicago Sun-Times, The San Antonio Express-News, Woman’s World, Ladies’ Circle, Highlights for Children, Child Life, My Friend, Totline, Pack-O-Fun and other publications.
