Bio:
I decided I wanted to write children's books shortly after getting a job in the media department at a local ad agency. I quit my job after a year, and went to work for a local independent children's bookstore, Toad Hall. During that time, with the help of Kathi Appelt and others, I started the Austin chapter of SCBWI (about 14 years ago). Since then I've had three children, taken them around the world for 9 and a half months with my husband in '07-'08, kept a blog at facesinthestreet.net, written many manuscripts, attended numerous conferences both SCBWI and otherwise, and am currently a student at Vermont College, earning my Masters in Writing for Children and Young Adults. I'll graduate January 2011. I love living in Austin, Texas, home to so many wonderful writers and illustrators. We have a vibrant community, our SCBWI chapter is phenomenal, it has grown tremendously under the leadership of some pretty special people.
