Carol Murray

Bio:

A former English and Speech teacher at the college level, Carol Murray is a poet and the author of seven books. Her Rookie Readers,"Hurry Up" and "Jenny's Socks," (Scholastic) meet the criteria for "Reading First" and offer a springboard for lively oral reading with kindergartners through second-graders.

Booklist calls her picture book, "ABC Art Riddles," (Peel Productions)"a playful approach to learning." In this book, third through fifth-graders can explore art concepts by solving rhyming riddles.

Carol has written hundreds of poems which she uses in her presentations. Most are short and humorous; others tug at the heart. Many are published in magazines, including "Highlights for Children." Others can be found in anthologies like "Phonics through Poetry" and "Bless the Beasts."

Carol Murray will bring a love of language to your school. Whether she is singing songs with kindergartners, writing poetry with sixth-graders, or sharing insights about children's books with teachers, parents, and older students, her goals are the same --to present programs that are interactive, informative, inspirational, and fun.

Besides the books mentioned above, her titles include "Puppy Parade,
Pirate Treasure Hunt, Sharks at Sea, and Day of the Dragon." These are all part of the "Storytime Sticker Series," published by Sterling Publishing.
