-Multi-award-winning author (with a total of 5 national, 2 state, and 2 humanities book awards and various professional honors).
-Author of THE NEBRASKA ADVENTURE, a Nebraska studies textbook for 4th grade (now in its 9th printing)--Won: Texty National Book Award, 2005; Nebraska State Book Award, 2006; Moonshell Literary Award, 2006.
-Wrote and published LUCKY EARS: THE TRUE STORY OF BEN KUROKI, WORLD WAR II HERO (October 2010), a young reader biography of Ben Kuroki (PBS documentary's "Most Honorable Son"), a biography book authorized by Ben Kuroki--Won 2011 Bronze Medal IPPY National Book Award for Multicultural Nonfiction for children/teens/young adults--Won 2011 Bronze Medal Moonbeam Children's Award for Young Adult Nonfiction.
-Received the Mari Sandoz Award for writings October, 2010.
-Currently working on several other biographies of notable Nebraskans, for grades 4-6.
-Currently writes for Nebraska Life magazine on a regular basis.
-Retired longtime school librarian and history teacher (30 years).
