Pamela Haskin

Bio:

Pamela Haskin recently returned to Texas after 22 years in Alaska where she and her husband homesteaded a 40-acre parcel of land in the "bush". The inspiring and often-times humorous book "A Deliberate Life: A Journey into the Alaskan Wilderness" recounts their time there and addresses the reasons for choosing such an unusual lifestyle.

As a motivational speaker and an award-winning author, Pamela encourages others to choose and then go live their own dream. She has also served as a consultant to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in their study of "wilderness women". Pam touches something in each of us that says life can be more than ordinary. "We do indeed have a choice, and we either exercise or surrender that choice each day," she says. Pam's choices changed her life dramatically and set an example for the rest of us.

Some of Pamela's other works have appeared in Guideposts, Angels on Earth, Kitplanes, Jane Kise's book Finding and Following God's Will, and Chicken Soup's Sister's Soul and Woman to Woman editions. Pamela has been married to her best friend for 30 years. She was never able to have children, but she does have one very spoiled toy poodle. "I'm loving living in town again - what with running water, indoor plumbing and all that," she says of her recent move.
